Meet Brittany Bowe
Born and raised in Florida, Brittany was exposed to almost all things, ice not included. The hardwood floors of the local skating rink were the gateway to many trips racing around the world from an early age. The hardwood floors of basketball courts landed her a Division I basketball scholarship at Florida Atlantic University.
From the hardwood to the ice, Brittany has hung up her inline skates and basketball shoes for a chance at Olympic Glory. Surpassing expectations with World Record performances, 6x speed skating World Champion, Brittany has achieved almost everything she has set her mind to, and continues on her Quest for Olympic Gold.

Team USA Olympic Flag Bearer
Brittany was given the longstanding honor of leading Team USA at the 2022 Winter Olympic opening ceremony in Beijing. Standing aside the other flag bearer, curler John Shuster, they carried the American flag into the Bird’s Nest stadium with all of the team USA athletes following behind them.
Inclusion
As an Olympic athlete, Brittany has been given a platform to inspire, encourage, and support others across the globe. As a gay athlete, Brittany reaches a community that is often times affected by prejudice and exclusion. Brittany’s hope is that people can draw from her experiences on and off the ice — from her success as well as her shortcomings, from her determination and perseverance to overcome, and from her strength and confidence in her identity and sexual orientation.
Adversity
Just coming off one of the most dominant seasons in Speedskating history, Brittany was well on her Quest for Gold leading into the 2018 Winter Games, when everything changed one summer day. Brittany suffered a concussion in training, and months later was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia, POTS, which essentially means the body does not control blood pressure or heart rate after you stand up. Scared that sport would never be an option again for Brittany, she pushed the fear away and started an aggressive rehab program with the same focus and determination that made her an Olympian, and that Fight, led to a medal at the 2018 Olympic Games and has her primed On The Quest for Gold for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
Speaker
A sought-after speaker in the areas of inclusion, leadership, empathy, and health and wellness, Brittany inspires and motivates organizations and people around the world. When not competing on the World stage, Brittany is sharing her story and the principles that made her a Champion with fortune 500 companies, organizations, and corporate retreats. Brittany’s words to live by “Practice doesn’t make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect!”
Mentor
Sport has played such a big part of Brittany’s life and has shaped her into the person that she is today. It is Brittany’s honor to share the lessons that she has learned and inspire the youth through various camps and development opportunities. Brittany is a proud ambassador of Right To Play, whose mission is to use sport and play to educate and empower children in disadvantaged communities.
Balance
While training and competing at the highest level, it is important for Brittany to maintain a healthy balance between the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of life. One of the places Brittany has found her balance is on her yoga mat, where she can focus on her mental health and well being. Brittany is in the process of completing her 200 hour yoga teacher certification.
